Why do I dance Salsa?

It gives me happiness, distresses me makes me more alive. Should I say more? Salsa keeps my inner creativity alive.Salsa has given me an identity as a Salsa Teacher, a traveller, a friend, but most importantly taught me important lessons to respect each individual.

What changes did Salsa bring to Nepal?

Salsa became a medium to equalize differences. Our Salsa community consists of people of every aspect of life, some of them are students, some are engineers, doctors, housewives even political philanthropists. Salsa is working as a bridge to bring them under 1 roof.During my tenure dancing, I have danced with many partners, some older than me, some younger, some married some are not Through Salsa, I’ve realized the importance of the respect they deserve.

Salsa in Nepal?

Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal, a hub of multi-culture, multi-language, multi-ethnicity. Everything is blended on the tune of Salsa. When I went to travel abroad, people there would be surprised that a Nepalese has dance Salsa so well. I have seen the same bamboozled look in NewYork, Tokyo, or Dubai. This expression is what inclined me to spread my passion and love for Salsa in Nepal.

“Passion is the source of strength”. As long a person is passionate about what he does, he can always move forward in life; one step at a time.

Background Behind this Documentary :

Ms. Susana Sanjuan Lopez, a French/Mexican, was living in France and was thinking about her new adventure in life. Sooner, she came to know that salsa dancing exits in Nepal. She was surprised and wanted to explore more. So she decided to come to Nepal keeping other projects in mind too.

I was lucky to meet Ms. Lopez in one of the my salsa socials. I could see some the spark in her eyes every time i see danced. Finally one day,  she proposed to make a video about Salsa in Nepal with me and my dance school.

Ms. Lopez, being half Mexican,is very close to Latin Culture and has seen it as she was spent a chunk of her life in Latin American. When she thought about me for the project i was very happy and touched.

Finally, after 3 days of shoots(spread over a year :P) we managed to pull this off. I shall always be thankful to Ms. Lopez for this video and shall always remember the memories during the practice sessions and the shooting.
